2012 turned out to be a good year: not only did the world not end, but some rather nice typefaces came into being, too. So it was with great pleasure and honour that I accepted Stephen Coles’ invitation to contribute to Typographica’s favourite typefaces of 2012.
I reviewed Tabac Slab, Tomáš Brousil’s latest addition to his Tabac (serif / sans / mono) superfamily.
As I mentioned in the review, I’m somewhat partial to slabs anyway, but Tabac Slab really is a beautiful face. I might even use it for a forthcoming new publication I’m working on. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
I thoroughly recommend you go and read all of the 2012 reviews, and if you’re interested, 2011’s selection is a good read as well (last year, I contributed the review of PintassilgoPrints’ delightful Changing).
