Today I am breaking protocol with Friday Likes. Usually I have three projects lined up. Today I only have one. In part because it's pretty badass and in part because there is no "more" link to point to to show you all these juicy images. So I figured this deserved its own Like post.

Domino's Handmade Pan Pizza

At some point during the Presidency of Barack Obama — of which this has nothing to do with him, other than establish a loose timeframe of three to four years — Domino's Pizza got good. Not mom-and-pop-pizza-place-good or artisanal-good but mainstream-good. Better sauce, better dough, better grease residue on your fingers. But what got my attention the most was the design of their delivery boxes. See a couple of examples above, Google-search for more. Nicely typeset and illustrated, clever, funny, distracting (the good kind).

Now, with the introduction of the the "Handmade Pan Pizza", Domino's is not just coming directly at their number one competitor, Pizza Hut, challenging their signature dish, but, as they claim, they are exposing the secret that their pan pizza is done with frozen dough while Domino's is made fresh. That's all good and fine. Let's talk about the box.
